Malaysia has a total of six international airports with the main travel hub being centred at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Malay or Bahasa Malaysia is the official language in of the Country, but communicating is not be a problem as English is widely spoken here. Malaysians are a multicultural society, so along with English and Malay, there are up to 130 living languages spoken here, with 41 spoken in Peninsular Malaysia. The native tribes of East Malaysia make up most of the languages while Chinese Malaysians predominantly speak Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Mandarin,Hokkien, Hakka, Hainanese, and Fuzhou. Tamil and Hindi are spoken predominantly by Malaysian Indians.
Malaysia experiences a warm tropical weather all year round. Temperatures range from a low of 21℃ (70℉) to a high of 32℃ (90℉) with little variation throughout the year. Heavy rain showers are common but most often short in duration. Balmy evenings are ideal for outdoor dining, night markets and late night shopping. Malaysia time is 8 hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8).
The currency is Malaysian Rinngit, indicated as MYR. Foreign exchange booths are common and clearly state the exchange rates for all major currencies.
